Oakley Lt Assault 2 Boot Review

Rucking is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that can be done with a whole variety of gear. There are boots designed specifically for rucking, like Oakley Lt Assault 2 boots, but there are also other that can be used for other activities, such as hiking.

Some people prefer to use boots because they allow the user to grip the ground better and push further. Others find that shoes work just as well and don’t require the added protection of boots.

In this article, we are going to review the Oakley Lt Assault 2 Boot and show you why you might want to get them for rucking.

Lightweight

Lightweight boots are perfect for rucking as they are not bulky and will not weigh you down. They are also versatile, allowing you to wear them while hiking.

These tactical boots compile with army guidelines while remaining the lightest available on the market. That’s very good when going through rough terrain, but because of their lightweight, they offer a bit less ankle support.

Comfortable

Comfort is key when it comes to boots. The right pair of boots can make a tedious day at work more bearable or a rucking session seem easier, and can even make for a fun weekend outing.

The Oakley tactical boots are perfectly comfortable, and the fit is ideal. Plenty of internal space in the foot box. This is a great boot for those that ruck in the city or off-trail environments.

Aesthetics

The Oakley tactical boots have a sleek, low-profile design. The boots are available in 4 different colors coyote, desert, blackout, and black. The coyote’s color is a rich, dark brown that is almost everyone’s favorite.

The boots have that army feel but are still a little more refined. The Oakley tactical boots are rugged, yet stylish boots for those that want to ruck in style and comfort.

Sole and Ankle Support

You can walk 4-5 miles throughout rough terrain without feeling like you are wearing clunky boots. The soles and the ankle are strong and rigid enough to provide much-needed support for your ankles and feet when you’re carrying weight on your back.

The flexibility of the ankle support and sole allows you to land on the front part of your foot, resulting in a healthier gait.

Break-in Period

When boots are new, they are stiff and need time to break in so they can stretch and conform to your feet. Usually, you can speed up the process by putting them on a daily or at least every other day.

The Oakley Lt Assault2 boots have almost no break-in period. A 12-mile ruck while wearing them was enough to get them to feel right on my feet.

Limitations

While the Oakley SI Light Assault Leather boot is a great lightweight and comfortable boot for rucking and basically any outdoor activity it has some limitations. One would be the fact that is not waterproof. The boot features 2 draining holes at the arch of the foot that will let the water out but if you are planning on rucking in wet conditions then I would suggest a more waterproof boot.

The same thing goes for the cold weather. There is no insulation and your feet will freeze in cold weather.

Composite or Steel Toe?

Unfortunately no, these boots don’t have a composite or steel toe. They are designed for agility and speed rather than safety. This is also why they are so light.
